Your face has 15 muscles
that work together to make a smile. Like some people, though, you
may avoid using these muscles because you are embarrassed by your discolored
teeth. A simple procedure called
bleaching may whiten your teeth and allow the real you to shine through!
Keep your teeth white and you can smile with confidence!
Easy and Convenient
Bleaching is done at home at the patient's convenience. An impression
is made of your teeth, and a custom fitted tray is fabricated to fit your
teeth. A bleaching gel is prescribed and used as directed for 2 weeks,
after which the patient must return to be checked. The trays are
then kept by the patient, so that they can be reused again in the future.
Bleaching Instructions
1. Bleaching should be done
at home for ONE HOUR PER DAY, while
you are doing a quiet activity - not during any strenuous activity such
as jogging.
2. DO NOT bleach your
teeth while you are asleep.
3. FIRST, brush and
floss your teeth - your teeth need to be cleaned in order for the bleaching
gel to work.
4. SECOND, fill the
upper and lower trays with the gel (use only a sesame seed-sized drop of
gel for each tooth) and place the trays in your mouth.
DO NOT OVERFILL!
5. THIRD, check the trays
in your bathroom mirror to be sure the tray is not overfilled with gel.
If the gel
overflows onto your gums, wipe it off with your fingers or toothbrush.
6. FOURTH, remove
the trays after 1 hour, and brush your teeth and the trays. Please
store the trays in the case provided.
Insurance and Fees
Bleaching is not covered by dental insurance. The fee for the
bleaching procedure is $375.00, and is due at the time of the initial appointment
for the bleaching treatment. Bleaching refill kits are available
for $25.00. |
